Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz may become a larger part of the passing attack in Week 2 if wide receiver Nico Collins is unavailable against the Cincinnati Bengals. Collins was hurt during Houston’s Wednesday practice with a hamstring issue, and a report from SI, citing ESPN’s Adam Schefter, said the Texans do not consider the injury serious.
His status for the game is still uncertain.
Houston may take a cautious approach because Collins previously sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that resulted in a spot on injured reserve. His absence would alter the Texans’ receiving group and could give Schultz additional opportunities.
Schultz led Houston in receptions in 2025, catching 82 passes for 777 yards. His workload also increased last season when Collins exited Houston’s Week 7 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
