The Houston Texans have added rookie wide receiver Lewis Bond to the active group for their Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. It is the team's second standard practice-squad elevation for the matchup, after veteran safety and special-teams player George Odum received the first one.
Nico Collins, a two-time Pro Bowl receiver, will be unavailable. KPRC 2 reporter Aaron Wilson, who cited a league source, said Collins has a Grade 1 hamstring injury and may also miss Houston's next game against the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson said the circumstances could still change.
Houston drafted Bond in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft, 204th overall. The Texans released him while reducing their roster to 53 players, then placed him on the practice squad. Bond can be called up two more times before the team must add him to the 53-man roster or select another player.
Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel are expected to play ahead of him at receiver, though his role against Cincinnati was not specified. Before the draft, NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein cited Bond's reliable hands and contested-catch ability, while raising concerns about his separation against press and man coverage. Zierlein said motion or bunch formations could aid his contributions.
