The Dallas Cowboys will use practice-squad linebacker Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron for their Week 2 game against the Washington Commanders, which is scheduled to be the team’s home opener. The moves give Dallas more linebacker and special-teams options while DeMarvion Overshown deals with a hamstring injury.
The team has not said when Overshown might return and chose the internal additions instead of signing a veteran.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday that rookie Jaishawn Barham will handle the green-dot helmet duties while Overshown is unavailable. Blogging The Boys reported that Dallas’ linebackers and safeties will be challenged by Jayden Daniels, Washington’s quarterback, and the Commanders’ offense. The report also pointed to play in the center of the Cowboys’ defense as an important area in the matchup.
Von Miller, who had 11 snaps in his Dallas debut against the Giants, could receive added attention after playing for Washington in 2025.
Overshown was one of three Cowboys fined after Dallas lost 20-28 to the New York Giants in Week 1. His fine was $9,527 for a late hit on Dart, while outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was fined $11,941 for a fourth-quarter facemask. Running back Javonte Williams also received an $11,941 fine for taunting-related unsportsmanlike conduct.
