Baylor junior quarterback DJ Lagway is listed as doubtful for the Bears’ Week 3 game against Louisiana Tech after an ankle sprain kept him out of the win over Prairie View A&M. He was injured in Baylor’s season-opening loss to Auburn after transferring from Florida and playing in that game.
Junior Nate Bennett is expected to start if Lagway cannot play. Bennett completed 26 of 34 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns in his first start against Prairie View A&M. He also rushed for 13 yards and a touchdown, but threw two interceptions. Edward Griffin is listed as QB2, with Quinn Murphy at QB3.
Baylor coach Dave Aranda said Lagway took part in a Monday walkthrough and would be evaluated through his practice work. A report said the injury is not expected to sideline him for a month or longer, though his availability in an emergency against Louisiana Tech remains unclear. On3’s Pete Nakos reported Baylor hopes Lagway returns for the Big 12 opener against Colorado next Saturday.
