Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to miss the team’s game with Louisiana Tech because of an ankle injury. His status for the Bears’ Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26 remains unresolved, although a report indicates he is making progress toward that matchup.

Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is progressing toward a return against the Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders. The report did not establish whether the junior quarterback will take the field. ClutchPoints also reported that the timing of his comeback is still unclear beyond that indication.

Lagway was injured in Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening defeat against Auburn. Sources told On3 Sports that he suffered a high-ankle sprain. Coach Dave Aranda had earlier characterized the injury as day-to-day. Lagway then sat out Baylor’s following game, a 44-3 win over Prairie View. The Bears are scheduled to play Louisiana Tech before beginning conference competition against Colorado.
