The Sulphur Bulldogs are scheduled to cross the Red River on Friday night to take on the Gunter Tigers in a non-district high school football contest. The two programs have secured this matchup after facing challenges in finding other non-district opponents for their schedules.
Sulphur enters the game with a strong recent record, having competed in consecutive state championship games in Oklahoma. The Bulldogs have also defeated two other teams ranked No. 1 during the current season.
The Gunter Tigers will host the game at home. The program has a history of success, reaching the state semifinals in the previous year. Since 2016, the Tigers have claimed five state titles. The team has also traveled to play opponents in other non-district games this season.
