Osuna’s Power Sparked the Victory

Corey Osuna delivered the decisive blow in the eighth inning, launching a three-run home run to right field that extended the Texas Rangers’ lead and sealed the win. The 364-foot blast provided the final margin in an 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, July 8, at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

Osuna’s homer capped a five-run eighth inning that turned a close game into a comfortable lead for the home team. He had earlier reached base when Duran singled to left, driving him in, and then advanced to second base when Foscue singled to left, scoring Duran. Osuna’s power display was the only other home run for Texas, while Foscue provided the Angels’ sole longball earlier in the contest.

Rangers Strike Early, Angels Respond

The Rangers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Salvador Soler doubled to left field, allowing Zach Schanuel to score. In the same frame, Jake Lowe singled to center, bringing Soler home.

The Angels answered in the second inning. Jose Lopez singled to left field, allowing Zach Carter and Corey Osuna to score, tying the game at 2-2. Lopez advanced to second base on the play.

The game remained tight until the seventh inning. The Rangers took a 3-2 lead when Evan Carter singled to left field, driving in Evan Peraza. The Angels immediately tied it again when Foscue homered to left field (387 feet), making the score 3-3.

Fifth-Inning Struggles for deGrom

Starting pitcher Jacob deGrom worked five innings for Texas, allowing two earned runs on five hits with two walks and striking out seven batters. His performance was solid but not enough to hold the Angels scoreless after the first inning.

The Angels’ bullpen struggled in the eighth. Tayler Saucedo entered with the game tied and surrendered two hits and an earned run. Sam Bachman, who entered in relief, gave up six hits and five earned runs in just 0.2 innings, including the three-run homer to Osuna. Brent Suter closed out the inning with one hit and one strikeout.

Pitching Decisions and Final Score

Peyton Gray earned the win for Texas, pitching one scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Tyler Alexander closed the game with one hit and two strikeouts in his inning. Cole Winn and Chris Martin also pitched for Texas, with Winn allowing no hits and Martin surrendering one earned run.

For the Angels, Jose Soriano started and pitched six innings, allowing two runs on two hits with four strikeouts. Tayler Saucedo took the loss after his brief but costly outing. The final score was 8-3, with the Rangers improving to 46-45 and the Angels falling to 36-56. Attendance was 23,816.
