The Dallas Cowboys lost safety P.J. Locke to a foot injury during Washington’s first offensive series, adding to the team’s defensive absences in its home game against the Commanders. It was Locke’s second game with Dallas.
Video replay on FOX showed Locke moving toward a tackle and then appearing to limp before making contact with another player. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said Locke later reached the locker room without assistance.
Malik Hooker had been ruled out before the game with a forearm injury. Locke joined Dallas in the offseason on a one-year contract worth $4 million, following six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. He had two tackles in Dallas’ season-opening loss to the New York Giants. Sports Illustrated described the injury report as breaking news subject to further updates.
