The Dallas Cowboys reportedly signed running back Tyler Goodson, adding depth after backup Malik Davis suffered a hip injury that requires surgery and will end his season. The move also gives Dallas another option while its running back group changes.
Emari Demercado handled the No. 2 role against the Giants, rushing twice for 7 yards. Javonte Williams received 12 of the Cowboys’ 18 rushing attempts, while also making five catches for 35 yards and a touchdown. Davis had contributed 304 special teams snaps over the previous two seasons, an area in which Dallas will now be without him.
Israel Abanikanda had been elevated from the practice squad for Week 1, and it was not clear how Goodson’s arrival would affect his status.
Goodson played three seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, appearing in 33 games. He had 54 carries for 264 yards, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt, before joining Atlanta for training camp. The Falcons cut him, then brought him back to their practice squad after he cleared waivers, before Dallas signed him.
He originally joined Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2023 but was released before Indianapolis picked him up.
