Neighbors along three county roads in Commissioner Lindsay Wright's precinct have pledged their own money to help get the roads resurfaced, and Grayson County has now set up a way to take it.
Commissioners on Monday adopted an order accepting private donations for a chip-and-seal project on Pop Noah Road, Brewer Road and County Road 292. The signed order, posted with the meeting record, says Wright worked with residents and property owners along those roads on the plan.
The cost and the gap
Materials for the job are estimated at $165,825. Many individual owners have pledged amounts, but the county expects the total will fall short of that figure. Under the order, the county will pay the difference once it knows how much came in, through a later budget amendment.
The work is expected in 2027, and no later than 2028. The donation form calls that year an estimate, not a promise, noting that weather, emergency repairs, staffing and funding can push it back.
How giving works
Each donor signs an individual acknowledgment form instead of one group agreement. Checks are made payable to "Grayson County, Texas" and delivered to the county treasurer by Oct. 30, 2026. Money that arrives later needs another vote of the court before it can be used.
The form spells out a few terms:
