Duran decides it late
Ezequiel Duran drove in four runs, including the final one on a ground rule double in the bottom of the ninth inning, as the Texas Rangers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Duran's last hit scored Burger and moved Seager to third after San Francisco had tied the game in the top of the ninth. Duran also delivered a first-inning RBI single and an eighth-inning double that brought in two runs.
Texas builds the first lead
Texas took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Nimmo doubled to right, scoring Pederson and sending Seager to third. Duran followed with a single to right that scored Seager and moved Nimmo to third, putting the Rangers ahead 2-0.
San Francisco did not score through the first six innings. MacKenzie Gore worked 6.0 innings for Texas, allowing three hits, no earned runs and three walks with four strikeouts.
For San Francisco, Blade Tidwell pitched 5.0 innings and allowed six hits, two earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts. Jason Foley followed with 1.0 inning, allowing no hits, no earned runs and no walks with no strikeouts.
Giants tie it, Rangers answer
The Giants pulled even in the seventh inning on the game's only home run. Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot shot that scored Gilbert and tied it 2-2.
