The Texas Rangers defeated the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Saturday, September 26, at Target Field in Minneapolis. The away team capitalized on a potent second-inning surge to secure the victory, finishing with a record of 80-81, while the host Twins dropped to 76-85. Attendance at the venue was 28,491.

Early Scoring and the Decisive Second

The game began with the home team taking an early lead. In the first inning, Keaschall scored on a groundout to first, putting Minnesota ahead 1-0. The Rangers responded quickly in the top of the second inning. Jansen singled to left field, allowing Lopez to score on an error. Jansen advanced to second on a throwing error by left fielder Roden. Carter then doubled to right, driving in Jansen. Osuna followed with a double to right, scoring Carter. Nimmo also doubled to right, bringing in Osuna. This sequence of hits gave Texas a 4-1 lead at the end of the second frame.

However, the Rangers held the lead for the remainder of the contest. In the fifth inning, Burger added a solo home run to center field, a blast that traveled 415 feet, which had already occurred earlier in the game to establish the final margin before the late Twins run.

Pitching Performance

Nathan Eovaldi started for the Rangers, pitching 4.1 innings while allowing four hits and one earned run on two walks and three strikeouts. Robert Garcia entered the game and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs while striking out none. Jakob Junis followed, pitching one inning where he allowed one hit and no earned runs with no walks or strikeouts. Tyler Alexander pitched one inning, allowing two hits and one earned run with one strikeout. Jacob Latz closed the game, pitching one scoreless inning with no hits, no walks, and three strikeouts. He earned the win, improving his record to 2-1. For the Twins, Bailey Ober took the loss. He pitched five innings, allowing 10 hits and six earned runs on one walk and five strikeouts, dropping to 7-7. Travis Adams pitched two innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs on one walk and four strikeouts. Taylor Rogers pitched one inning, allowing one hit and no earned runs with one strikeout. Yoendrys Gomez pitched one inning, allowing no hits and no earned runs with one strikeout.
