The Houston Texans have signed wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, according to The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, a 26-year-old at 6 feet 1 inch, was previously with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he had a total of eight receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns during the last season.
His move comes as the Bengals have a strong roster of wide receivers, leading to interest from several teams.
In response to the signing, The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. mentioned that Tinsley might find better chances for playing time in Houston, particularly as the Texans have been looking to strengthen their wide receiver lineup this month. He joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad. Tinsley had a notable preseason in 2025, which earned him a spot on the Bengals' roster.
Having gone undrafted, Tinsley has made four starts across 19 regular-season games thus far. He is known as a possession receiver with strong ball skills, although he may lack the top-end speed and quickness needed for separation.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein noted that Tinsley is effective at making tough catches, especially in the middle of the field, despite some athletic limitations that could restrict him to a zone-beating role from the slot.
