The Houston Texans have made roster adjustments after injuries in their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Graham Mertz is now on the Reserve/Injured list due to a knee injury that has been confirmed as season-ending by an MRI. Rookie running back Joshua Pitsenberger has also been added to injured reserve following an ankle injury that occurred near the end of the game.

Mertz's injury took place just before halftime, presenting a significant challenge for the Texans, who were already managing multiple injuries prior to this game. Pitsenberger's injury compounded the team's difficulties as they navigate their preseason roster.

In addition to Mertz and Pitsenberger, the Texans' injury report includes Ja'Marcus Ingram (shoulder), Collin Wright (soft tissue strain), and Jake Hansen (ankle). Despite these issues, the Texans have been able to keep most of their starting lineup in place, with the notable exception of linebacker E.J. Speed, who sustained an injury during offseason activities.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans and his coaching staff are set to closely review their options as they prepare for further roster changes during training camp. The team aims to maintain depth and performance as they progress through the preseason.
