Nico Collins was not visible during the media-access portion of Houston’s Wednesday practice, his third consecutive missed session. The wide receiver suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain before the Texans’ Week 2 game against Cincinnati and did not play in that contest.
Houston is 0-2 entering Week 3, and Collins’ availability against the Indianapolis Colts has not been determined. The source said he could instead return for Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys. If he remains out, Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte and Jaylin Noel would be expected to take on larger roles, while offensive coordinator Nick Caley prepares for another game without the team’s top wideout.
Tight end Dalton Schultz, offensive linemen Trent Brown and Ed Ingram, and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney also were not seen during the media-access portion. No further details were provided about their statuses. Collins’ absence against Cincinnati coincided with limited production from the other Texans wide receivers, none of whom had more than three catches or 40 yards.
Schultz led the passing attack with 12 receptions for 140 yards, while Hutchinson, Boutte and Noel combined for seven catches.
