The Houston Texans have made a trade to bring in wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte announced the deal via social media prior to any official confirmation from either team. Reports suggest that in exchange for Boutte, Houston provided safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to New England.
This acquisition follows the injury of Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who sustained a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a significant role alongside star receiver Nico Collins and had a promising rookie season, tallying 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a successful previous season with 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had an excess of wide receivers after trading for A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year contract worth $68 million in March.
In addition to Boutte, the Texans also added veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard recently to address the gap left by Higgins' injury. The team's strategy for the upcoming season remains unclear.
