A Dallas court has issued a temporary restraining order that permits 18 college football players, including SMU's Ahmaad Moses, to compete for a fifth year of eligibility in the 2026 season. This decision comes shortly before the college football season begins and follows the Wisne v. NCAA ruling from July 31, which allowed athletes who graduated high school in 2022 to extend their eligibility.
The NCAA's appeal of that ruling has been temporarily halted by this new injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, a First Team All-ACC selection in 2025, has played 54 games and started 19 during his time with the Mustangs. His contributions were significant in securing a conference title in 2023 and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. Last season, he led the team with 104 tackles and five interceptions.
Moses had a standout game against Miami (FL), where he achieved a career-high 15 tackles and two interceptions. After declaring for the NFL Draft following the 2025 season, he encountered challenges due to a herniated disk and subsequent spinal fusion surgery. This injury has allowed him to qualify for a return under the ACC's new eligibility rules.
Moses has been part of SMU's fall camp since the Wisne ruling and is anticipated to play in the Mustangs’ season opener against Florida State on September 7, barring any NCAA appeal. He will join a safety group that includes Tyren Polley and Jimmy Wyrick, along with other All-ACC selections.
