TCU has announced the dismissal of safety Jacob Fields from the football team after a locker room altercation that occurred on August 13, just days before the season opener against North Carolina. The incident, classified as an aggravated assault, involved Fields in a confrontation with an offensive teammate, as reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Prior to the altercation, Fields had expressed concerns to the coaching staff about rising tensions among teammates, including facing insults and threats. He transferred to TCU from Louisiana Tech this offseason, where he was anticipated to be the starting free safety.
In 2025, Fields was honored as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in Conference USA, having played all 12 games for Louisiana Tech. He was a standout player, leading his team with 92 tackles and achieving three interceptions, with two of those returned for touchdowns. Additionally, he recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups in the previous season.
