The Houston Cougars have strengthened their defense by signing safety Myles Rowser, who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move comes in light of new NCAA eligibility regulations that permit players from the 2022 class, who did not redshirt or enter into a professional NFL contract, to gain an extra year of eligibility.
Rowser had an active freshman year, participating in nine games for the Campbell Camels. He also took part in a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks but ultimately did not sign a professional contract. His collegiate journey includes time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 to 2025.
Over his career, Rowser has accumulated a total of 295 tackles, with standout stats including 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, 16 passes defended, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.
During the 2025 season, he played in every game for Arizona State, achieving a personal best of 84 tackles, four tackles for loss, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery, which earned him a position on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars already have a solid safety lineup, featuring veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who recorded 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season. They have also secured Tulane safety Javion White, who contributed 50 tackles last year. Rowser's addition may lead to adjustments in the lineup, possibly shifting one of the safeties to the nickel corner position.
