North Texas has officially named Tayven Jackson the starting quarterback for their upcoming game against Indiana University, ranked No. 6. This game will take place at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, on September 5.
Jackson, a native of Greenwood, Indiana, previously played for IU for two seasons before transferring to the University of Central Florida for the 2025 season. He had a notable career at UCF, where he recorded 2,151 passing yards, achieving 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Jackson also had an impressive high school career at Center Grove High School.
His ties to IU run deep, as he is the younger sibling of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former IU basketball player. Trayce has expressed his intention to attend the game to cheer on his brother. This match will be the first for IU since they celebrated their national championship victory in January.
