The Dallas Cowboys have added two-time Super Bowl champion and eight-time Pro Bowler Von Miller to their roster with a one-year contract, aiming to bolster their pass rush. Miller, who leads active players with 136.5 career sacks, recorded 9.0 sacks last season while with Washington.

However, the signing has drawn criticism from some analysts. Bryan Broaddus, a former Cowboys scout and current analyst for 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, has voiced strong disapproval, describing the move as low-impact and potentially harmful.

He pointed out that Miller's performance last season did not meet the expectations for a starting player, suggesting that he might not have been signed if he were not a prominent name.

Broaddus highlighted concerns about Miller's burst and closing speed, which are crucial for a top-tier edge rusher. He suggested that the Cowboys might benefit more from utilizing James Houston, who is likely to be sidelined in the rotation. Pro Football Focus ranked Miller 66th out of 119 edge rushers last year, while Houston was placed at 49th.

In his defense, Miller emphasized his ability to contribute beyond just playing, stating he can effectively mentor younger teammates. He expressed confidence in his capacity to enhance the performance of those around him, asserting that he would be recognized for his mentoring abilities if such a Hall of Fame existed.

The full implications of Miller's signing, both on the field and in the locker room, are yet to be determined.
