Quarterback Joe Milton III has rejoined the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad after being released to make room for running back Emari Demercado. Milton was not claimed by any other teams during the waiver process and chose to return to the Cowboys, even with interest from other practice squads.
Dak Prescott, the team's starting quarterback, expressed his enthusiasm for Milton's return, noting the positive influence he has within the quarterback group and the team as a whole. Milton, who was a sixth-round selection by the New England Patriots in 2024, was traded to the Cowboys before the 2025 season. His performance during the preseason was notably better, as he completed 29 of 43 passes for 378 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.
This was a marked improvement from the previous season, in which he played in four games, achieving a completion rate of 62.5% and throwing one touchdown along with two interceptions.
With his return, Milton aims to build on his preseason success and utilize the competitive atmosphere to enhance his skills as a quarterback. Prescott's guidance will be vital as Milton embarks on his third season with the Cowboys, looking to make the most of his opportunity on the practice squad.
