The Philadelphia Eagles have signed running back Jaydon Blue after his release from the Dallas Cowboys. Blue, a former fifth-round draft pick from the University of Texas, was let go as the Cowboys shifted away from their "Thunder and Lightning" running back strategy. His time in Dallas was marred by maturity issues, which limited his chances in his rookie season.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that Blue was unlikely to return to the team's practice squad, confirming his exit.

In a related development, the Cowboys have signed Emari Demercado, who previously played for the Arizona Cardinals. Demercado, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 215 pounds, is expected to enhance the running back group.

He averaged 6.5 yards per carry during his time in Arizona, and in his rookie season, he improved to 4.9 yards per carry, later achieving an impressive 9.3 yards per attempt in 2024. Over three seasons with the Cardinals, he totaled 819 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 126 carries.

Currently, the Cowboys' running back lineup features Malik Davis as the primary backup and Hunter Luepke serving as a fullback. Israel Abanikanda has been brought back to the practice squad, while the status of second-year running back Phil Mafah is still in question.

The Cowboys will be monitoring Blue's performance with the Eagles, hoping he does not fulfill his potential while playing for a rival team.
