Head coach Brian Schottenheimer shared his excitement about Milton's return, expressing that he is thrilled to have him back, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Milton was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Although he only appeared in one regular-season game with the Patriots, his strong arm and potential were evident during the preseason. In April 2025, he transitioned to the Cowboys, contributing in four games without a starting role and gaining essential experience.
After being waived at the end of August, Milton chose to rejoin the practice squad, reflecting his contentment with the team's trajectory. Schottenheimer and the coaching staff are optimistic about Milton's continued development.
The Cowboys are scheduled to begin their 2026 campaign on September 13 against the New York Giants, with quarterback Jaxson Dart leading the team.
