The Houston Texans will be without wide receiver Nico Collins when they meet the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Collins has been sidelined by a Grade 1 hamstring strain sustained in practice last week, and Houston ruled him out after he missed practice during the week. The ruling was reported by sports.yahoo.com, citing NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Collins also missed Houston’s 20-6 defeat against Cincinnati, which dropped the Texans to 0-2 and marked the second consecutive game without their leading receiving threat. Indianapolis is also 0-2.
Dalton Schultz may see an expanded role. He had 12 catches on 14 targets for 140 yards against the Bengals, with eight of those receptions coming in the fourth quarter. Schultz has totaled 16 receptions and 175 yards over two games, both team highs.
Houston could turn to additional tight ends or its ground attack. David Montgomery and Woody Marks had modest production against Cincinnati, while Texans running backs gained an average of 1.5 yards per attempt. Indianapolis has surrendered 354 rushing yards at 5.4 yards per carry. Houston’s other listed receivers are Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne. No recovery timeline was provided for Collins.
