TCU is weighing its quarterback options after a 21-13 defeat at Central Florida in Orlando left the Horned Frogs 2-2. The loss was the Big 12 opener for both teams and put TCU at 0-2 against Power Four opponents. TCU also committed 11 penalties totaling 86 yards, had two fewer turnovers than UCF and gained only 1.2 yards per rushing attempt.

The result altered plans for the Oct. 3 home matchup with No. 9 BYU. TCU had hoped to open 4-0 and bring ESPN's “College GameDay” to Fort Worth, but the team is averaging 11.5 points per game through its first month. Jaden Craig, a Harvard transfer, remains ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel on the depth chart.

Craig has gone 45-for-72 for 485 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns in games against North Carolina and UCF. He also has 10 rushing attempts for a net of minus-38 yards in those contests, with sacks included in college rushing totals. Schobel had no freshman appearances in 2025 and has thrown once this season.

A switch could involve financial and personnel considerations because the report says Craig signed for more money than Schobel. TCU could stay with Craig against BYU, or Schobel could make his first start at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week. Coach Sonny Dykes has previously made injury-related changes, including turning to Max Duggan in 2022 and Josh Hoover in 2023.
