In a recent volleyball match against TCU, Texas Longhorns' outside hitter Abby Vander Wal had to leave the game after sustaining a knee injury. The incident took place during the opening set when she fell while scrambling on the left side of the court and remained down, visibly in pain while clutching her knee.
Training staff assisted Vander Wal off the court, as she was unable to bear weight on her leg. She had made contributions to the team prior to her exit, including two kills and a topspin serve that helped initiate two scoring runs for Texas. The Longhorns ultimately won the match by sweeping TCU.
Details regarding the extent of Vander Wal's injury have yet to be disclosed, and the situation is still developing.
