Gunter, Texas is located approximately 45 miles northeast of Dallas.
Dallas has placed guard Nick Leverett on its active 53-man roster and signed veteran offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson to the practice squad. These moves address a thumb injury to starting guard Tyler Smith, who will miss at least the first month of the season. Leverett, an undrafted free agent from Rice University in 2020, will back up new starter TJ Bass.
His career includes ten starts across sixteen games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and time split between New England and Arizona in 2024.
Tomlinson, 34, was a first-round pick in 2015 and has started 162 career games, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2020. He most recently started seven games for the Houston Texans last year. The team also finalized the acquisition of edge rusher Von Miller in August.
In related news, ESPN released its annual poll of NFL executives and scouts. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer was identified as a Coach of the Year contender following a 7-10 season record. An NFC scout cited in the report highlighted quarterback Dak Prescott’s potential and an improved defense, noting that staying healthy gives the team a good chance at division supremacy.
The poll also named safety Caleb Downs as the favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
