Baylor will have starting quarterback DJ Lagway back against Colorado after an ankle injury kept him out since Sept. 5. The team’s medical staff cleared him to play, following a prediction earlier in the week from coach Dave Aranda. Both teams entered the game with 2-1 records.
Nate Bennett will return to backup quarterback after starting the past two games. He completed 75% of his throws for 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions, and added 15 rushing yards with two scores. Wide receiver Jadon Porter and defensive back Devin Turner are available after being listed as probable.
Defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler also can play after his status improved from questionable. Baylor’s unavailable players are safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson, defensive lineman Devonte Tezino, offensive lineman Cayden Tone and wide receiver Ashton Jones.
Colorado ruled out wide receiver Danny Scudero, cornerback Preston Ashley, linebacker Colby Johnson, defensive lineman Vili Taufatofua, offensive lineman Demetrius Hunter and tight end Charlie Williams. Scudero and Williams have produced 94 combined yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season. Offensive lineman Xavier Payne was listed as a game-time decision.
The game is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Central at McLane Stadium and will be televised on ESPN2. Lowell Galindo and Kirk Morrison are scheduled to handle the call. SI.com published the report.
