As the college football season begins, Baylor University has unveiled its depth chart for the game against Auburn, set to take place in Atlanta. This announcement highlights several competitive positions as the team readies for the matchup.
One significant competition is at wide receiver, where Jadon Porter and Dre'lon Miller are co-listed as starters for the third position. Miller, a recent transfer from Colorado, has faced some injury setbacks but is expected to make a notable impact.
Porter, who recorded nine receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown last season, has also established himself as a valuable asset, regardless of the starting decision.
The offensive line appears to be mostly as anticipated. Following the loss of Memphis transfer Yakiri Walker's eligibility, Koltin Sieracki will step in as the center. The lineup features Logan Moore at left tackle, Nate Kibble at left guard, Asher Hale at right guard, and Kaden Sieracki at right tackle, with Kaden being the sole returning full-time starter.
Defensively, the depth chart presents uncertainties at nose tackle and strong safety. Hosea Wheeler, who transferred from Indiana, is competing with Jamaal Whyce Jr. for the nose tackle role. Similarly, Jacob Redding is vying for the strong safety position against Devin Turner. Both Wheeler and Redding are anticipated to play crucial roles this season, although their starting status remains undecided.
At tight end, Matthew Klopfenstein has secured the starting position over Tony Livingston, a transfer from Florida. Klopfenstein, entering his fourth year, caught eight passes for 73 yards last season and is expected to contribute significantly. Livingston will also likely see playing time, though his specific role is still being determined.
