Gunter’s City Council will consider a replacement agreement for directional signs next week, covering homebuilder sign plazas and signs guiding people to public facilities and local attractions.
The proposed agreement with National Sign Plazas Inc. is on the agenda for Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, at 6 p.m. Central time in the Gunter Public Safety Building, 105 N. Fourth St. The packet describes it as an amended and restated version of an agreement dating to March 2022. Council has not yet acted on this proposal.
Under the draft, the company would install and maintain shared sign structures with panels directing drivers to subdivisions, model homes and sales offices. The document identifies reducing scattered off-site directional signs as one of the program’s goals.
Gunter would control the number and placement of sign plazas in its rights of way and approve final designs. The proposed specifications cap structures at 12 feet and allow up to 10 panels on each plaza.
