Asphalt Work on 121 East of Preston Causes Delays

Road construction is underway on the eastbound side of Highway 121 just east of Preston, with officials advising residents to expect delays and use caution.

The City of Gunter has announced that asphalt work to improve road conditions is currently taking place on the eastbound side of Highway 121, located just east of Preston. The construction activity began today, June 26, 2026.

According to the city's announcement, residents traveling in the affected area should anticipate delays. The city has issued a directive for drivers to exercise caution while navigating through the active construction zone.

In addition to the road work update, the city provided several other notices for the community. The City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of Independence Day. This closure notice was posted on June 23, 2026.

Residents interested in local governance are reminded of an open position on the Municipal Development District (MDD) Board. Applications for this role must be submitted by July 15, 2026. The notice regarding this board position was posted on June 26, 2026.

Furthermore, the city has issued a Notice of Interest for City Attorney Services. This notice was published on June 12, 2026.

Two public hearings have been scheduled for July 2, 2026. The first hearing will address matters regarding the Taylor Ranch Property Improvement District (PID), and the second will cover the Platinum Ranch PID. Both notices for these hearings were posted on June 11, 2026.
