Sherman is about 15 miles northeast of Gunter. Rain coverage across Texoma is forecast at 60% Thursday, with the best opportunity for rainfall from the afternoon into early evening, meteorologist Michael Bohling said. Most areas are expected to see under 0.5 inch, although isolated locations could receive more than 1 inch if heavier rain forms.
Thursday’s high temperatures are expected to stay in the 90s, while triple-digit heat is forecast to return Friday. Wednesday became the ninth September day with a high of 100 degrees, putting the area one day below the monthly record of 10. It also brought the year’s total number of 100-degree days to 54.
Temperatures are projected to settle into the 90s next week, but the forecast shows readings likely remaining above average for several more weeks. Yahoo.com reported the forecast.
