Severe weather systems have inflicted substantial damage across North Texas, with impacts ranging from structural destruction to loss of life. The National Weather Service reported that tornadoes in the region varied in intensity from EF-0 to EF-2. Authorities in Wise and Parker counties confirmed two storm-related deaths on Saturday as rescue crews responded to the aftermath of the severe weather.
In Gunter, the Grayson County Sheriff's Office reported that a severe weather event caused significant damage in the 1000 block of Fox Lane, specifically at the Good Shepherd RV Park and Storage facility. Multiple campers and mobile homes were overturned in the area. Additionally, residents in Gunter experienced damage from Sunday night storms that produced winds reaching 80 mph.
Damage was also reported in other communities. In Sanger, Denton County, severe storms on Sunday evening created a 45-to-50-foot hole in the roof of a Walmart Distribution Center. In Bonham, wind and rain caused trees to fall onto homes and power lines throughout the town. Officials in Mineral Wells stated that at least two major manufacturers were impacted by the storms.
Power outages affected thousands of residents in Palo Pinto County on Monday morning. In Santo, Joseph Kidwiler described overnight flooding as devastating while inventorying his family's losses. In Valley View, a couple continues to recover from an EF-3 tornado that struck the town a year prior, which had damaged 31 homes and completely destroyed one.
The storms also disrupted local institutions. A rural North Texas school district canceled classes for the week following the severe weather. In Springtown and Runaway Bay, neighbors are grieving the loss of two lives. Mayor Herman White of Runaway Bay noted that a deadly tornado hit the southwestern, western, and northern edges of the community. J.D. Clark provided an update on Sunday morning regarding one death in Wise County.
