Methodist Celina Medical Center has introduced a new women’s services program, expanding its clinical offerings in the region. The facility, which began admitting patients in March 2025, officially opened this specific department last November. With this addition, the hospital became the first in Prosper and Celina to provide nonemergency labor and delivery capabilities.
Cody Hunter, president of Methodist Celina, highlighted several significant milestones achieved since the hospital’s opening. He noted that the facility provided the first mammograms ever conducted in Celina. Additionally, the hospital delivered its first baby within its own walls, creating a cohort of residents who were both born and raised in the city.
Hunter described these achievements as "BRICs," a local term referring to individuals born and raised in Celina. He emphasized the novelty of these services, stating that the hospital has experienced numerous firsts since it began operations.
The introduction of the women’s services program positions Methodist Celina as a unique provider in the area. It is currently the only hospital in both Prosper and Celina equipped with a labor and delivery unit. This development adds a specialized care component to the medical center’s existing services.
Celina is located approximately 9 miles south of Gunter. The hospital’s expansion into women’s health represents a significant step in its early operational history, which has been marked by rapid service implementation.
