Administrators at Gunter Independent School District have finished reviewing a situation involving one of its coaches. The district confirmed that the inquiry is now complete.
Superintendent Dr. Brandon Enos issued a statement regarding head baseball coach Daryl Hellman. The review focused on claims that Hellman made inappropriate comments.
According to the superintendent, Hellman will stay on paid administrative leave and will not return to his coaching duties. His future with the district depends on a recommendation from Enos to the school board. That recommendation would either terminate his contract or suspend him without pay.
The district intends to select a replacement head baseball coach for the rest of the current school year. Details regarding when that search might conclude were not provided in the statement.
