Gunter Independent School District is introducing a new digital tool designed to help families track student transportation as the school year begins. The district has released the Bus Compass smartphone application, which enables parents to view their child’s bus route and receive real-time updates on vehicle location.
Superintendent Dr. Brandon Enos stated that the app allows families to check how many minutes remain until a bus arrives without needing to wait outside or look out windows. Director of Transportation Nicole Mann noted that the system addresses common concerns for working parents who need to know when a child has been picked up, dropped off, or is nearing their destination.
The application is available for download through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. According to district officials, the app has received positive feedback from parents ahead of the first day of classes scheduled for Monday.
Beyond route tracking, the system integrates with cameras installed on district buses. This technology permits administrators and staff to view live video feeds, which Mann described as a measure to provide additional support to drivers and ensure student safety during transit.
