The Seattle Mariners defeated the Houston Astros 6-5 on Thursday, Sept. 24, at T-Mobile Park. Cooper Criswell earned the win after a late rally.

Late Rally Secures Victory

The Seattle Mariners overcame a deficit to defeat the Houston Astros 6-5 in ten innings at T-Mobile Park on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The victory improved Seattle’s record to 74-84, while Houston fell to 78-80.

Houston jumped out to an early lead in the third inning, capitalizing on three runs against Mariners starter George Kirby. Jose Altuve singled to left to score Jeremy Allen, followed by a sacrifice fly from Xavier Paredes that brought Altuve home. Salvador Perez then homered to left field, measuring 358 feet, to add two more runs for the Astros.

Seattle responded immediately in the same frame. Ty France singled to right, driving in two runs to cut the deficit. Luis Rodriguez later doubled to left, scoring one more run. The Mariners tied the game in the fifth when Canzone singled to center, allowing Arozarena to score.

Pitching Performances

Kirney pitched five innings for Seattle, allowing six hits and four earned runs while striking out five batters. He was supported by a bullpen that included Jose Ferrer, Gabe Speier, Carlos Vargas, Seranthony Dominguez, and Cooper Criswell.

Vargas pitched one inning, surrendering one hit but no earned runs or walks. Criswell also pitched one inning, allowing one hit and no runs. He recorded the win, improving his record to 4-2.

For Houston, Ethan Pecko started, pitching 2.2 innings and giving up four hits and three earned runs. Joshua Hendrickson followed with two innings of work, allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out three batters. Logan VanWey pitched a third of an inning without allowing a hit or run.

AJ Blubaugh pitched two innings, allowing no runs but issuing one walk. Bryan Abreu closed the regular innings with a scoreless frame.

Decisive Tenth Inning

The game remained tied at 5-5 until the tenth inning. Houston’s Josh Hader took the loss, falling to 4-2 on the season. He pitched 1.1 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while issuing four walks.

In the top of the tenth, Salvador Perez tripled to right, scoring Xavier Alvarez to give Houston a 6-5 lead. However, Seattle answered in the bottom half. Luis Rodriguez walked, allowing Tyler Crawford to score and tying the game at 5-5. Ty France then singled to center, bringing home Arozarena with the game-winning run.

The final attendance was 24,802 at T-Mobile Park.
