Schwarber Powers Late Surge
Kyle Schwarber provided the decisive blow with a four-run home run in the sixth inning, propelling the Philadelphia Phillies to an 11-7 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday. The win improved the Phillies’ record to 82-64, while the Astros fell to 74-72.
The game began with Houston jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Alvarez doubled and scored on Paredes’s two-run homer, followed by Diaz singling to bring up Altuve. However, Philadelphia immediately responded with three runs of their own.
Turner singled to score Realmuto, and Harper’s single drove in De La Cruz and Turner on errors before Arraez added another run to make it 4-4.
Early Lead for Houston
The Astros regained the lead in the fourth inning when Smith hit a two-run homer to center field, making the score 6-4. Turner answered in the fifth with a solo home run to right-center, narrowing the gap to 6-5.
Houston’s pitching staff struggled to maintain control after Brown exited. Hunter Brown started for Houston, pitching five innings and allowing seven hits and four earned runs while striking out seven batters. He was relieved by Bryan King, who faced three batters and gave up three hits and three earned runs in no innings pitched before being pulled.
