Heavy rain expected later this week has placed Gunter within a Grayson County flood watch lasting from Wednesday afternoon into Friday morning.
The National Weather Service updated the watch Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. CDT. Its current window is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, through 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2.
Forecasters anticipate 2 to 4 inches across the watch area, with localized pockets receiving 4 to 6 inches. The warning about impacts is broader than rivers: runoff may also affect creeks, streams, low-lying areas and low-water crossings.
Residents should use the watch period to follow forecasts and prepare to change travel plans if conditions deteriorate. The alert is not confirmation that flooding has begun in Gunter or that a specific road will close.
Grayson County's CodeRED service is available to residents and businesses. The county urges people to register rather than assume their number is already listed, and it offers weather warnings as an additional opt-in feature. A current street address helps the system target the right area.
For city notices, use Gunter's official website rather than an undated screenshot or old weather-closure post. Check both the date and the affected location before changing plans.
