Gunter's Municipal Development District board has a packed special meeting set for Thursday evening, with a public relations proposal, an update on a downtown property purchase and a possible incentive for a pet grooming business all on the agenda.

The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Gunter Public Safety Building, 105 N. Fourth St., according to the agenda posted Oct. 2 by City Secretary Detra Gaines. Residents may speak during citizen comments, with a three-minute limit.

Public relations proposal

Marc Rylander and Mary Ann Moon of GRPR are scheduled to present and discuss services they have proposed for the district. The agenda describes a scope of work covering public relations, government relations, strategic communications and public affairs. The item is listed as a presentation and discussion, not a vote.

Downtown property

The board will get an update on its purchase of 305 W. Main St. from Eric Wilhite. In September, the City Council had a Gunter Municipal Development District real estate purchase and sale agreement for that address on its Sept. 17 agenda.

Members will also discuss the new ownership of property at 101 S. Preston Road and a possible district project to help with site improvements there.

Business incentive and a forum

Theresa Milan, chief executive of Barks N Bubbles, is set to make a presentation, and the board may give staff direction on a possible economic development project or incentive for the business. The agenda does not list a dollar amount.

The board may also approve spending on a special event for 2027, the Gunter Economic Growth Forum.

Closed session

The agenda includes an executive session under the Texas Government Code's economic development exception to discuss a project identified as Esplanade. Any action on that item would come after the board returns to open session.

The board will also consider its monthly financial reports for June, July, August and September.
